Palm Kernel (PK) is the edible seed found inside the hard shell of the oil palm fruit. It is a key byproduct of the palm oil industry, obtained after the extraction of Crude Palm Oil (CPO) from the fruit's pulp. Palm kernels are rich in oil content, and their extraction yields Palm Kernel Oil (PKO), which is widely used in the production of margarine, confectionery, non-dairy creamers, cosmetics, and personal care products. The remaining residue, known as Palm Kernel Expeller (PKE), is used as a high-protein feed for livestock. The kernel's versatility and economic value make it an integral part of the palm oil value chain.
